Things to do this week in Wales

Wonderful Town

Connie Fisher (above), winner of How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, stars in this multiple Tony Award-winning tale about a young writer who leaves Ohio to find love and fame in New York City – the musical was first staged on Broadway in 1953. www.wmc.org.uk  Millennium Centre Cardiff, July 3-7

PlayArk Games Festival

This event is all play and no work, allowing visitors to have a go at old and new types of games – from Human Bingo to Renga, where up to 100 people will be armed with lasers for a video game played on a cinema screen. www.playark.co.uk  Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, July 7

130th Annual Summer Exhibition

This annual exhibition of painting and sculpture from around Wales will feature work made by some of the 100 Academy members. Bring your wallet, because most of the art will be on sale. www.rcaconwy.org  Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, Conwy, until Sept 16

Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

This year’s highlights, from a festival that will see 4,000 performers from across the world arrive in the pretty town of Llangollen, include Lesley Garrett, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The Pavarotti Trophy – awarded to the best choir.www.international-eisteddfod.co.uk  Various venues, July 3-8

Stitching

When this play debuted at the Edinburgh Festival in 2002, shocked watchers stormed out. And little wonder, having seen characters fighting with dildos and stitching up their private parts. Now banned in Malta, it is a story of an unwanted pregnancy.www.chapter.org  Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, July 4-7

Wakestock

Headliners at this music festival include heart-on-sleeve balladeer Ed Sheeran, Bonkers rapper Dizzee Rascal and Dumfries knob-twiddler turned globe-straddling hitmaker Calvin Harris and Big Issue faves Rizzle Kicks. www.wakestock.co.uk  Cardigan Bay, July 6-8

Rhys Darby – This Way To Spaceship

His hilarious alter-ego is Murray, the hapless, nerdy band manager in Flight of the Conchords, who will no doubt feature on this journey about geekdom, international fame and musings on surviving Armageddon. www.swanseagrand.co.uk  Swansea Grand Theatre, July 2
