The Big Sleep Out
march 2011
In March 2011 The Big Issue Foundation will be holding it’s first ever Big Sleep Out. We are looking for 200 people to join us as we take over the historical Spitalfields Market for the night.
It’s going to be a night of entertainment, celebration and a chance to learn a bit more about life on the streets directly from those affected by it.
This is not a night for comparison. Every night thousands of people across the UK deal with the harsh reality of being homeless and one night will not give any insight into how it is to live on the streets. Being homeless is about more than not having a house. This is a night about getting together, having fun and raising some much needed funds to support some of the most marginalised people in our society.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you want to come alone or get a team involved, this is a fun and exciting way to help the homeless.
During the evening you’ll be able to see some exhibitions put on by our vendors, hear directly from those people you will be supporting and learn a bit more about the work of The Big Issue. We’ve even got a few surprises lined up!
Don’t forget though this is still a challenge as it is going to be a long and cold night.
