Doctor Who new series trailer: See sneak preview here!
A massacre of Daleks, dinosaurs on a spaceship and a terrifying baby Weeping Angel – all are teased in the just-released trailer for the Doctor Who season seven.
The five-episode series is due to start in late August and will see Matt Smith continue his eccentric and high-octane run as the Doctor.
However, showrunner Steven Moffat has warned that it will see the end of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill).
Gillan and Darvill joined the series at the same time as Smith, when Moffat took over from Russell T Davies in 2010.
Moffat has promised a thrilling finale for the two companions, saying, “Amy and Rory will leave in the fifth [episode] that goes out. It will be a final encounter with the angels and not everybody gets out alive – and I mean it this time.”
The Doctor’s new companion, played by Emmerdale star Jenna-Louise Coleman, will be introduced in the now-traditional Christmas special ahead of next year’s 50th anniversary celebration of the series.
Despite Harry Potter director David Yates saying last year that he was working on a Doctor Who movie, Moffat has denied that any such project is in the works, saying that it was a “weird fantasy”.
“There isn’t a film. I can assure you definitively that was all nonsense,” said Moffat. The trailer for series seven will run tonight on BBC One at 8pm… but here The Big Issue brings you a sneak preview.
