Edwina Currie reveals to The Big Issue her youthful days of boys, rowing teams and "talking, going to bed, then more talking"

She’s the unbuttoned Tory grand dame who spent four years having a secret affair with former PM John Major.

As the second volume of her racy diaries is published, she has spoken to The Big Issue about her life and youth - and made one tantalising hint about the men that may have been the object of her passions.

“My obsession back then was boys,” she told us. “I got plenty of it… I liked talking, then going to bed, then talking again afterwards. I do credit my younger self with taste.”

She added: “I hung around with the entire rowing eight at St John’s College – they were gorgeous. And not one has betrayed me since. They were good men.”

Currie shocked the nation after releasing the diaries she wrote between 1992 and 1997, which contained lurid details of her relationship with Major as well as various other raunchy admissions.

The former minister’s candid Letter To My Younger Self ran last week in the Big Issue magazine. You can now read it here.
