Bob Dylan, The Cribs... Guess whose playlist, issue 1005
Our mystery playlister writes: “I don't think it is possible to say my favourite ever five songs. I think I get attached to different things for a while, and they come and go and come back again. These are five that have come back a lot.”
1. All Over Again - Johnny Cash
It feels straight from the heart and straight to the point with nothing in between. He is my favourite!
2. I Threw It All Away - Bob Dylan
This is a very sad song. I hate throwing things away and losing things! I love Bob Dylan's words and music, but I don't know how they fit together: it feels mysterious and hard to pin down. I think I listen more to Bob Dylan than to any other music. He is my favourite as well!
3. Men's Needs - The Cribs
I love the way the two voices go together and against each other — it's exciting — and the lyrics make me laugh a lot.
4. Road To Nowhere - Talking Heads
I was into this when I was a kid. I am a fan of David Byrne. I remember a brilliant video to this song with him on a road!
5. Walk Away - Franz Ferdinand
I like the guitar melody and the lyrics especially. "I love the sound of you walking away" sticks in my head. Each song of theirs is like a shiny machine that fits together beautifully.
