Dreams of a Life (12A)
Talking to her friends, ex-lovers and colleagues, all of whom are incredulous that her death should have gone unnoticed for so long, director Carol Morley pieces together impressions and recollections of this attractive but vulnerable woman. The result is no more valid than the many other impressions of Joyce offered by those who knew her. The portrait that emerges here, however, is of a compelling, vivacious and gentle – if damaged – woman who touched many lives. This is an achingly compassionate and desperately moving film.
Director: Carol Morley
