Cashless payments can increase a vendor’s income by £520 a year

With busier high streets, the summer is a great time for Big Issue vendors to increase their sales. But, with fewer people carrying cash, vendors without card payment options will miss out on vital income.

Thanks to your support, we’ve already helped over 1,500 vendors accept card payments. This summer, we aim to help 300 more, potentially adding a staggering £156,000 to vendors’ earnings annually.

A financial contribution of £15 enables us to help a vendor to go cashless and increase their earnings through selling the magazine.

I’ve just been given a new card reader by The Big Issue. That helps because everyone doesn’t bring cash with them any more. They’ll say I’ve only got card and now I’ve got a card reader and it’s made things five times quicker. I stick my card reader on view next to my magazines so people can swipe it and off they go.
