Share the gift of great journalism while also contributing to the fight against poverty.

Why should you give The Big Issue as a gift?

As a non-profit, every penny we make goes back into the organisation. With a gift subscription, not only will your friend receive an award-winning magazine each week, but you’re also contributing to The Big Issue’s fight to dismantle poverty – from employing our frontline staff, who provide vendors with vital support, to enabling us to campaign for policy change on a national level… each subscription really does make a difference.

Your Big Issue gift subscription options

Take a regular gift subscription, with all the profits being reinvested back into The Big Issue. The recipient of your gift will receive a new issue each week. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Purchase a gift subscription via our vendor map. By using our vendor map tool, you can select a specific vendor who benefits from your gift subscription – meaning the vendor of your choice receives 50% of the net profits on the initial sale and any future renewals.

What’s inside

With each weekly issue you can expect the latest news and opinion on homelessness, poverty, life, politics and social activism.

Plus, weekly reviews and interviews about all the latest TV shows, theatre and music in our culture section. And with ‘My Pitch’ we hear about the unique experiences of a different vendor each week.

With contributions from:

The important role The Big Issue plays in people’s lives

Mark is a Big Issue vendor that now works fulfilling our corporate subscriptions.

“I was really chuffed to have this chance, and it’s thanks to subscribers that I have this job. From being homeless and begging, to having a roof over my head and a regular income – The Big Issue has helped me all the way.

Lavinia moved to the UK in 2012, and The Big Issue has been a big part of her life since then.

“The Big Issue has helped me to get my CV done and I’m putting it into shops and hotels. I want to find another job when my little girl starts at school full-time so I can help my family more.“

Sean was living in a tent by the M5 when The Big Issue frontline team helped him find accommodation. He has now stopped selling the magazine to start two part-time jobs.

“I’ve always been a strong person but at the moment I’m ecstatically happy. Anyone who knows me will tell you I can be having the worst day going but I always have a smile on my face. I’d like to thank everyone here for your kind support and friendliness. I couldn’t have done it without you. The Big Issue does change people’s lives.”
