My #BigChristmasWish: our campaign for the festive season!

Our Christmas campaign aims to raise awareness of The Big Issue during the festive season and inspire people to connect with their local vendor.

We’re delighted to announce the launch of our Christmas campaign My #BigChristmasWish! Filmed during a freezing cold day in London, it features four London vendors as they prep their pitches for the festive season. Each vendor reflects on how their lives have changed since selling The Big Issue and shares their #BigChristmasWish.

Forming part of a campaign that will run until Christmas Day, the film aims to demonstrate the positive impact The Big Issue can have on the lives of people who sell the magazine.

Tiberiu, who recently came to the UK from Romania, looks forward to saving up enough money for a plane ticket home to visit his family. While David, who sells in Hammersmith, is dreaming of getting his art online. He started working on his artwork while on placement through our charitable arm, The Big Issue Foundation, at the Northern Trust Bank in March 2016, and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Hugh, meanwhile, sells in St Paul’s and will be handing out up to 1000 Christmas cards to his customers this year to say a huge thank you for their support throughout 2019. His #BigChristmasWish? To make more customers and make people happy!

Then Norma, whose aspiration (if she had all the money in the world) would be to open a 24-hour care home for young and old, “because there are too many people suffering in the world”.

Although these four are a small representation of the hundreds of vendors across the country who sell The Big Issue magazine, we hope that through this film and the accompanying social media campaign, we can demonstrate just how meaningful you are to our vendors. And how, with your support, our vendors can look forward to many more happy Christmases to come.

Merry Christmas from all of us at The Big Issue, and thank you for your support!
