DJs Against Street Poverty Organise Big Issue Fundraiser

Join the DJs Against Street Poverty collective in London on 21st May for a night of music to help end poverty and homelessness.

There is an all-too-common misconception that all DJs lead a hedonistic lifestyle, indulge themselves to the fullest and are devoid of moral virtues. The DJs Against Street Poverty (DASP for short) not only strive to challenge that mindset but are also wholeheartedly committed to supporting the ongoing fight against homelessness.

This non-profit initiative saw the light of day shortly before the start of the pandemic and is the brainchild of London DJs Mr Boogie and Dr Pudding. They have since enlisted two more DJs in László Balla and Wah Wah 45s record label supremo Dom Servini.

Their primary objective is to get as many fellow record spinners as possible to sign up to the movement. Anyone who wishes to become a DASP DJ will be expected to act as an ambassador for a soup kitchen, shelter, foodbank, or homeless charity of their choice.

The DASP collective uses music as an effective instrument to forge connections with like-minded individuals in a fun and friendly setting, foster unity in diversity and more importantly, fly the flag for charities catering for the disadvantaged and the destitute.

Join the boys at the Jago in East London’s Dalston on Saturday 21 May as they put on a party with a purpose, and help them raise awareness and funds in aid of The Big Issue Foundation.

Spread the word far and wide, saunter in from 9pm, savour a tipple or two and socialise with friends to the backdrop of some wonderfully genre-spanning DJ sets ranging from Afro Tropical to Latin Disco, Thelonious Monk to Futuristic Funk, Eek-A-Mouse to Deep House. Whether you want to relax or rule the dancefloor, the choice is completely yours.

Entry is free but donations on the night will be warmly welcomed. To find out more about DASP and what they do, feel free to visit www.dasp.uk.
