Januarys Oxford’s Vendor of the Month Award goes to Derek Kewley

A very big well done to Derek Kewley who has won the Oxford Vendor of the Month Award for his brilliant hard work.

The Oxford Vendor of the Month Award has been running since August last year and serves to recognise and reward the progress our vendors have made towards social and financial inclusion over the previous month. Winners are selected according to: general good conduct, attitude and commitment; efforts to improve sales; positive public feedback; and progress towards personal goals. Each month the staff team in Oxford consider candidates against these criteria when deciding on a winner.

Derek sells The Big Issue in Oxford on Cornmarket Street; he says “I enjoy selling the Big Issue because I can connect with the public- whether or not they buy the magazine, it’s good to talk to the people.” Derek is striving hard to overcome his problems and since joining us, has connected with a number of support services to help him move forward. He is also selling consistently well.

Derek is also featured in this week’s Big Issue #1242, in the My Pitch section.
