Help us find Britain’s most expensive train tickets

It's no secret that train tickets are extortionate. We want your help to show people just how bad the situation is

Can you find the priciest ticket in the UK? Let us know

Train tickets in this country are expensive. It’s nothing new. And yet, every time you’re presented with a three-figure fare for a seemingly unremarkable journey, it’s a shock. We want your help finding Britain’s most expensive train fare.

Despite the pressures of the cost of living crisis, rail fares increased by 5.9% in March. The debate over privatisation and nationalisation continues. Meanwhile, ticket office closures threaten to leave disabled people stranded, and ongoing strikes by rail workers highlight a system where nobody’s happy.

It reminds us all too well that, over on the continent, there are offers like France’s €1 tickets.

If you’ve come across a mind-boggling single fare, let us know. We’re looking for proper wallet-busters; train tickets that should come with the number for a mortgage adviser printed on the back.

Email letters@bigissue.com with screenshots and a few details or contact us via our online form. If it’s a ticket you’ve had no choice but to buy, let us know about the impact it had on you.

It’ll help us paint a clear picture of the rail rip-off, and highlight how freakish fares are battering Brits.
