Side Quest

Join us on a Side Quest – our streaming for good challenge to help improve digital literacy for Big Issue vendors!

What is Side Quest?

Side Quest is our first charity stream challenge. To take on Side Quest, streamers broadcast a live video online and everyone who tunes in to watch the livestream will see the challenge and is encouraged to donate money towards the Big Issue Foundation.

Charity streaming gives our supporters the freedom to fundraise in their own way. While gaming is the most popular activity to do over a charity stream, it’s not the only way! Those who take on the challenge can do just about anything in their stream, so no matter your talent, hobby or challenge, you can help us raise funds to support Big Issue vendors.

What does this have to do with Big Issue vendors?

Side Quest is part of our Digital Literacy initiative. As more and more parts of our lives move online, having access to and the skills to use a smartphone, a computer and the internet can be the difference between affording daily living costs and being trapped in poverty.

Disadvantaged communities are at risk of being left further behind if they’re not supported to fully embrace the digital age. Digital exclusion keeps many locked out of essential services as people can lack the skills and confidence to manage their lives online, or do not have the equipment and internet connection to do so. Being able to afford and use a smartphone or computer – and being able to afford data or broadband – is essential in managing benefits claims, finding and applying for jobs, navigating the asylum system and getting qualifications which can lead to work or better pay.

We want to ensure everyone can benefit from the internet and technology, regardless of their background or income. With Side Quest, we hope to bring attention to this growing divide, and you can help support Big Issue vendors in their quest towards digital literacy.

How can I get involved?

We would love for you to take on our Side Quest!

To start, you’ll have to figure out what kind of charity stream you’ll be hosting. Will you be gaming? Doing art? Dancing? Having a Q&A? Once you decide on your activity, you will need to register on Tiltify and set up a fundraising page for your charity stream.

We recommend joining our Discord server to meet other supporters and spread the word about your charity stream.

What is Tiltify?

Tiltify is an online giving platform that allows donations to a fundraiser’s stream whilst they are live.

It also the only fundraising platform to have direct integration with the Twitch livestream platform. The Tiltify for Twitch extension allows streamers to embed Tiltify’s interactive features, such as milestone, incentives, and real-time contribution tallies into their stream pages. Tiltify also allows donors to receive instant, on-screen recognition for their contribution and interact live with players and special guests.

Tiltify supports a wide range of livestream fundraising activities beyond gaming, including food-related and art broadcasts, such as live music performances, and events like 5K runs and walks for charity. Tiltify is also easy to use – users can get started with a Tiltify livestream fundraising event in less than five minutes!

What is Discord?

Discord is a free app that’s used by tens of millions of people ages 13+ to talk and hang out with their communities and friends. It’s a home for communities of any size, but it’s most widely used by small and active groups of people who talk regularly.

Our Discord server is where we will be posting fundraising tips, sharing news, inviting our supporters to events, keeping up with our supporters’ fundraisers and charity streams, and best of all chatting with our supporters!
