Famous for his signature parka coat Gallagher announced on his Instagram that he wanted more parkas from the audience on his new UK tour.

CALLING ALL PARKA MONKEYS… No one plans on being homeless. Yet 5,000 people in the UK sleep on the streets on any given night. We’re asking you to help this winter by donating a coat or parka. In return for your donation, you’ll have the chance to win a pair of tickets, plus a meet and greet with Liam (one winner for each show on the UK Nov tour). Full info + find out where to donate at liamgallagher.com/partwithyourparka
But instead of adding them to his, no doubt, extensive collection, the Mancunian is asking for donations to keep homeless people warm in the winter. All the donations will help homelessness charities Shelter and Centrepoint as well as Aberdeen Cyrenians on the Scottish leg of the tour and Dublin’s Inner City Helping Homeless.

The Big Issue has inspired the launch of 120 street papers globally, including sister titles in Australia, South Africa, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
The move is a welcome one – but Gallagher is only the latest to take up a coat appeal.
One of the biggest is the Wrap Up appeal, which is running around the UK this month.
