Young fans of The Big Issue have been entering the competition to grace a Christmas cover for years.

The Big Issue has been overwhelmed with festive inspiration, as the entries flood in for our Christmas Kids Cover Competition.

Thanks to support from supermarket Iceland, we can now announce some very special prizes for this year’s contest. As well as seeing their work on the cover of the Christmas edition of The Big Issue, the creator of the winning entry will receive a £250 Love2shop voucher.

Two runners up will also be awarded with a £100 Love2shop voucher each.

And the best set of entries from a school class or other youth group will win £500 to buy more supplies to keep getting arty. Teachers and group leaders can download our information pack here.

Since the competition has been so popular, we have also extended the deadline – you now have until December 1 to get your entries to us.

Judging the competition this year is Radio 1 star Greg James. He said he was delighted to support The Big Issue and encourage young people to explore their imaginations.

“When it comes to designing a front cover, I’d love to see a bold and colourful image to attract the attention of potential customers. Humour is always a great idea and can be a powerful way to get a serious point across,” said James.

“But I don’t want to give too much advice because I want their imagination to run wild and really enjoy the process. I can’t wait to see what we get sent in.”

The competition is now closed for 2022 but the winning entry will be on the cover of the magazine out on December 12! Remember to pick up a copy from your local vendor. Not sure where your nearest vendor is? Find out from our vendor map, or take out a subscription if there’s not one near you.
