Enter the Big Issue Christmas Kids Cover Competition!

Once again, we’re looking for creative children to wow us with brilliantly bright, bold, colourful pictures that will help Big Issue vendors sell more magazines this winter.

This year’s theme is: comfort and joy! How do you think you could help people feel safe, warm and happy this Christmas? What makes you feel that way? Is it your family or friends? Christmas traditions?

Whatever it is, get out your pens, pencils, paints or graphic design software and make us a cover that will spread some comfort and joy across Britain through this Christmas. Please use an A4 or an A3 sheet and make sure the drawing is portrait not landscape (ie the drawing is tall rather than wide). Make sure to include THE BIG ISSUE on the cover and send to us by November 25.

The competition is now closed for 2022 but the winning entry will be on the cover of the magazine out on December 12! Remember to pick up a copy from your local vendor. Not sure where your nearest vendor is? Find out from our vendor map, or take out a subscription if there’s not one near you.

We can’t return artwork but will print as many pictures as we can squeeze onto the page. All entries will also feature in a spectacular online gallery!

Prizes, supported by Iceland

  • 1st place: your design on the cover PLUS £250 Love2shop voucher
  • 2nd and 3rd place: your design in the magazine PLUS £100 Love2shop voucher
  • Special prize for best entries by a school class or youth group: your designs in the magazine PLUS £500 for your group
