Comedian Rosie Jones: 'I'm a little cute disabled lady – nobody would suspect me as a Traitor'

Rosie Jones looks back on a year of personal breakthroughs and puts her hat in the ring for the next series of Celebrity Traitors

Dreams came true for Rosie Jones in 2025, as she wrote and starred in her own sitcom and launched The Rosie Jones Foundation. But for the comedian, writer and actor, nothing could top being a cover star for a prestigious and high-profile magazine…

Pushers, which launched on Channel 4 in June, was one of the TV highlights of the year – funny, provocative and vital, with Jones excellent in the lead role. In the series, her alter ego Emily Dawkins turns society’s tendency to overlook and underestimate disabled people to her advantage… by setting up a drug-dealing ring. All the better to make up for the cuts to her benefits by the DWP.

As well as highlighting big issues in her comedy, Jones has also become increasingly comfortable using her platform to advocate for disabled people. This year she launched her own charity to support adults with cerebral palsy with their mental health

“I represent them all day every day,” Jones told Big Issue earlier this year. “It’s the proudest thing I’ve ever done.”

As she looks back over 2025, Rosie Jones explains how she has improved her work-life balance, and why our collective obsession with the latest album by Lily Allen is something the world got right this year…

What has been your standout moment of 2025?

Haha, well of course being a cover girl of Big Issue was my highlight. But apart from that, can I be cheeky and tell you two highlights?

First highlight?

The release of my sitcom, Pushersavailable to watch on Channel 4 On Demand. As a comedian, it has always been my dream to have my own sitcom. So, to write it with my good friend and excellent writer Peter Fellows, and to star in it, was truly a dream come true.

Second highlight?

A comedy gala to raise funds for The Rosie Jones Foundation. We launched the foundation this year and it is our mission to create a world where no person living with cerebral palsy feels alone or unheard. It is the proudest thing I have ever been a part of and in November we put on our first ever gala. We not only raised a lot of money which will go straight into funding counselling sessions for people living with cerebral palsy, by counsellors living with cerebral palsy, but it was a great opportunity to celebrate everything we have achieved so far.

What do you know about yourself now that you didn’t this time last year?

Even though it has still been a busy year for me work wise, I feel like I have had a lot more weekends off and time with my loved ones away from work to enjoy myself. The work/life balance is real and I have really noticed this year, that when I give myself time off to sleep, rest and recover, I come back feeling more capable to take on more work.

What do you think the world got right this year?

I think the world’s positive response and love for Lily Allen’s West End Girl album was exactly right. I cannot tell you how many times I have listened to it. Lily Allen is God.

What do you think the world got wrong this year?

I have been a life-long Labour supporter and voter, but I think that the current government have got a lot of things wrong this year, including their refusal to acknowledge the genocide in Palestine, their abandonment of the trans community and the proposed disability welfare cuts

Did you see Oasis?

Absolutely not. Call me controversial but I’ve always thought they were overrated and I am definitely team Blur

Would you rather be a Traitor or a Faithful?

I would make such a good Traitor. I am a little cute disabled lady and nobody would ever suspect me. So I think I’d be a cracking murderer!

Do you think your job is at risk from AI?

Absolutely not. One time, I tried to ask ChatGPT to tell me a joke and it was absolutely rubbish so yeah, I am quietly confident that my job is safe for a few more years.

What would your browsing history say about you this year?

Oh no, I dread to think. You know what, I’m quite boring and I spend a lot of my time searching for the quickest charging cables and battery packs. I am a big fan of efficiency in all things charging.

What is the oddest family Christmas tradition you keep?

More of a Rosie tradition which my family tolerate. It is my birthday on 24 June which means that Christmas Eve is my half birthday. I make my whole family wish me a happy half birthday. I demand half a birthday cake and I expect them to sing the half happy birthday song to me. Which goes a bit like this, ‘Hap Birt t y, Hap Birt t y, Hap Birt t Ro, Hap Birt t y.’ It amuses me greatly.

Are you more or less hopeful than at the start of 2025?

I like even numbers, so I think we’re in for a good one. Bring it on!
