Big Issue Invest Trust

Big Issue Invest Trust (BIIT) is the registered charitable arm of Big Issue Invest (BII), and exists to provide grants to charities and social enterprises focused on alleviating poverty and tackling inequality.

Big Issue Invest Trust has been operating a grants programme to support the growth of early stage social enterprises since July 2018, and during that time has disbursed £406,000 in grant funding to 24 organisations.

Following the outbreak of Covid 19, and its unprecedented impact on Big Issue vendors, the Big Issue Invest Trust board announced in July 2020 that it would support the vital work of The Big Issue by granting funds on to the social enterprise to enable it to deliver programmes which support marginalised and vulnerable people. To date BIIT has provided £679k of grant funding to The Big Issue, enabling the development of a range of financial and digital skills, training and employability programmes.

Big Issue Invest Trust also works directly with Big Issue vendors through the Vendor Enterprise Programme which provides small grants to magazine vendors seeking to start their own small business. As part of the programme vendors also receive business support and mentoring to develop their idea into a successful small enterprise.
