More than 250 people put their best foot forward for The Big Issue as they took on the Big London Night Walk to raise £80,000 for The Big Issue Foundation (TBIF).

Walkers travelled 25km around the English capital on Friday night – starting and finishing at Shoreditch Town Hall – to mark TBIF’s 25th anniversary.

One of two flagship fundraising events held by our charitable arm, Friday’s event proved to be a huge success as TBIF smashed their fundraising target with all money going towards helping 1,200 vendors access healthcare, housing, banking and to rebuild their aspirations.

Popular vendor Paul Logan, who sells the magazine at Liverpool Street station, said: “I was very impressed with the turnout and support of the people taking part in this year’s walk. The weather was perfect for the walk tonight and I’m glad we were able to smash the fundraising target.”

Stephen Robertson, Big Issue Foundation’s CEO, added: “This year marked our 25th birthday and so we added a few extra kilometres to celebrate.

“It was great to have taken part yet again. The money we raised tonight will help support a growing number of Big Issue vendors in ways that will help them escape the street and move their lives forward. Thanks to everyone who took part!”
