A campaign to put politician’s words on billboards has hit £30k in nine hours

Led By Donkeys have pledged to put the spotlight on tweets and quotes from Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Iain Duncan Smith and other politicians

Indecision may be the overriding feeling in Westminster at the moment as the two main parties remain at loggerheads over Brexit.

But a campaign highlight quotes and tweets from politicians by putting them up on billboards has, ironically, had a uniting effect.

Led By Donkeys, a six-strong group of friends, have raised more than £30,000 in the space of just nine hours to back their project to put the words of leading Leave-affiliated MPs Michael Gove, Boris Johnson, Iain Duncan Smith, Nigel Farage and more in the spotlight.

The pro-Remain group have already attracted attention in Romford this week after putting up a Gove quote in Romford on Monday before removing it two days later.

Led By Donkeys have also taken aim at former Brexit Secretaries David Davis and Dominic Raab, poking fun at the latter’s Dover-Calais border gaffe from during his short spell in the role.

Outlining their mission on their Crowdfunder, a Led By Donkeys spokesperson said: “We all have family, friends and loved ones who voted Leave. Many of them believed the words of these politicians. By putting up their quotes as billboards we can all compare the promises made with reality.

“Let’s cut through today’s chaos by showing our fellow citizens that this Brexit failure was founded on lies and hypocrisy.”

If you want to back Led By Donkeys’ Crowdfunder the head here.

Let’s hope the same clarity of purpose can now be found between Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn and the rest as the March 29 Brexit date looms ever larger.
