On top of reviewing this year’s hottest show at the Edinburgh Fringe Big Issue vendors are popping up all over actress Julie Hesmondhalgh’s Twitter feed!

Best known for her role as Hayley Cropper in ITV soap Coronation Street the actress plays the lead in The Greatest Play in the History of the World showing until August 26 at the Traverse Theatre as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.

All this week Hesmondhalgh will be meeting Big Issue vendors across the city, promoting our hardworking vendors and highlighting their pitches during festival season.

Hesmondhalgh is known for her work with grassroots organisations and work on social issues. She co-founded Manchester-based Take Back Theatre Collective in 2015 as an artistic response to the politics of austerity.

Follow her adventures on Twitter using #TBITakeover or at @juliehes as well as @BigIssue and @BigIssueScots.
