Love Island contestant, Kaz Kamwi, has shown her support for The Big Issue, by trying her hand at selling the magazine in Central London.

Prior to Love Island, Kaz previously did a six month placement with The Big Issue in their Birmingham office, having always been passionate about helping such an important cause.

The Love Island 2021 star donned a distinctive red tabard and took training tips from local London vendor, Paul Logan to hone her selling style before taking to the pitch on Cavendish Square.

Kaz, speaking about her experience, said: “It was really tough selling the magazine. It was intimidating, approaching people and getting their eye contact. People kept walking away, so I tried the technique walking towards them with a big smile and offering compliments, but it was still challenging.”

Appealing to the public to support people less fortunate than themselves and buy The Big Issue, she added: “By buying a copy of the magazine, you are helping someone to change their life. I would urge everyone to, next time you see a Big Issue vendor, stop for a minute and pick up a copy if you can. It will make a huge difference to that vendor’s day.”

“It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with The Big Issue given my previous experience working with them. I think it’s so important and it really made me realise just what hard work the vendors are putting in. I hope my experience makes people take the time to stop and buy a copy or at least acknowledge those selling The Big Issue”

Paul Logan, Big Issue vendor, who showed Kaz the ropes, said: “It’s been wonderful, I have really enjoyed showing Kaz what it’s like selling the magazine.”

Chris Falchi-Stead, Director of Sales and Operations, at The Big Issue, said: “The sell-off experience was a great opportunity to show Kaz, on a small scale, the challenges that our vendors face, day in, day out.”

“Paul was a fantastic ambassador for The Big Issue, providing sales tips as well as sharing his experiences.”
