Big Issue vendor to welcome millions of Heathrow Airport passengers

“I’m very proud to feature in the pictures at Heathrow,” said the Big Issue vendor who is part of the airport’s ‘Welcome’ campaign.

Big Issue vendor Floriana Stanciu has become an international poster girl, greeting 1.5 million passengers a week as part of Heathrow Airport’s ‘Welcome’ campaign.

Floriana, who has been homeless for two years, sells The Big Issue and also works on a Change Please coffee cart in London.

She joins a Red Arrows pilot, a town crier, a zookeeper, a TFL Tube driver, a Globe theatre actor and British astronaut Tim Peake as Welcome ambassadors on the posters in the airport’s four terminals (more below).

“I am very proud to feature in the pictures at Heathrow,” Floriana said.

“This is a nice way to feel good about the journey I have taken and the hard work needed to get to where I am today.”

Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye added: “Heathrow is a great British asset that is recognised around the world and now from space too.

“We are honoured Floriana has joined our line-up of iconic personalities the United Kingdom has to offer.”
