The artists each shared their inspiration and reasons for taking part in this pioneering new Big Issue project.

John Dolan, who briefly sold The Big Issue, has drawn his dog George in a delightful festive scene. “It’s helping people who are at the lowest end of society who are holding their heads up high and trying to do something about it. God loves a trier,” he said.

Magnus Gjoen’s fabulous gothy skull tree ornaments are inspired by the story of The Little Match Girl. “The print I developed is a reflection of the celebration of Christmas and that we should also remember to help others as we are enjoying our festivities.”

And Pure Evil took the loss of David Bowie as his starting point. “I feel like Bowie was holding the fabric of the universe together. A lot has changed since he left. I’m hopeful that this Bowie wrapping paper will help out a whole bunch of homeless people this Christmas.”
