Ben Shirley and Judge Craig Mitchell - Skid Row Marathon

Ben Shirley and Judge Craig Mitchell training in Los Angeles

A special preview screening of inspirational new documentary Skid Row Marathon, featuring a live Q&A with the film’s star Judge Craig Mitchell takes place at the O2 Cineworld on the eve of this year’s London Marathon.

Skid Row Marathon is a documentary following a running group for homeless people in the notorious area of downtown Los Angeles. And The Big Issue is delighted to be on board as the film’s media partner.

Skid Row Marathon follows a running group formed by Judge Craig Mitchell, a 61-year-old superior court judge, who runs alongside homeless people and recovering addicts every week.

Judge Mitchell formed the group in 2011, and a combination of health and fitness, the routine of regular early morning runs, and the camaraderie the team inspires has enabled the runners featured in the film to take giant strides towards leaving homelessness behind.

The Big Issue is proud to be a media partner on Skid Row Marathon, while Judge Craig Mitchell is running this year’s London Marathon raising funds for The Big Issue Foundation, his own Skid Row Runners charity, and The Running Charity – who use the transformative powers of running to help young homeless people in the UK.

On Saturday 21 April, Judge Mitchell will be taking part in a live Q&A after a preview screening at the O2 Cineworld in London. To win a pair of tickets to see the film, answer the following question.
